Learn to Skate: Session 5 starts April 2nd! This will be the last session of the 2025/26 season and will consist of five classes.
Classes will be held on Thursday evenings only.
Online registration for Session 5 is now open.
We’ve added two new questions to this registration that were not on previous forms.
The first question is about our BCFSC Spring Show (Friday, May 15th, Theme: TBD). Skaters enrolled in Session 5 are invited to participate in a special Learn to Skate group number in the show! This is always a fun opportunity for our LTS participants to experience performing in a skating show. The cost to participate in the LTS Number is $10. Practice will be on Thursday, May 7th from 5:30–6:30 PM, and an additional 30-min practice may be scheduled if needed. Dress rehearsal will take place on Thursday, May 14th, beginning at 4:30 PM. We will share more details as they become available. You can watch a past LTS performance (10 minutes, 14 seconds into our Holiday Show from Dec 2025): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8G1QjUzpyzc
The second question relates to the PensFIT program that has recently been introduced in local elementary schools. Jaden Lindo, Manager of Community Hockey for the Pittsburgh Penguins, has asked local LTS programs to help track whether any skaters registered for Learn to Skate that may have received their flyer distributed at school.
Thank you for helping us gather this information!
Guidance for selecting your class:
-
Skaters ages 3 & 4 will start in the Snowplow Sam level.
-
All beginner skaters, ages 5 and older will start in the Basic Skills 1 level. (If your skater belongs in Basic 1 but Basic 1 is sold out, please do not register him/her in the Snowplow Sam or Basic Skills 2 level, it will result in an invalid registration once discovered).

Please read the schedule and class offerings carefully and thoroughly.

Due to ice availability, Learn to Skate lessons will be on Thursday evenings. Only Snowplow Sam and Basic Skills 1-6 levels will be offered this season. There will be no weekend classes available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

If registering a returning skater from last session or another rink's LTS program, please select their current level. All skaters that are new to the LTS program should select either Snowplow Sam (ages 3-4) or Basic Skills 1 (ages 5+). Skills assessments will be done on the first evening of class to ensure that all participants are in the appropriate level for their abilities.

Please choose your skater’s level carefully. BCFSC cannot be responsible for invalid registrations (for example, registering a skater age 5 or older in Snowplow Sam, or registering above their current skill level). If a registration is found to be invalid, placement in the correct class will depend on availability at the time the issue is discovered — not the original registration date —therefore, space in the appropriate level cannot be guaranteed and may not always be available.
